Continental Town & Country

Continental's Town & Country is a durable workhorse on and off the road, built for stability, traction, and value. Police bike squadrons throughout the world use the Town & Country because of its puncture resistance, high mileage and low rolling resistance. The slick center rolls smoothly on pavement and the recessed tread offers control in the corners.

Very surprised at off road handing

    Comments:

I was very surprised how well they grip the trails. I'm not very serious about trail riding and needed something better for the street, so Revolution Cycles recommended the Town and Country. It's great on the road and has low rolling resistance at high PSIs. But I took it off road last weekend to Lodi Farms (an intermediate level single track near Fredericksburg, VA) and it performed better than I expected. It absorbed the roots/bumps and cornered admirably. Please keep in mind I'm not a pro and didn't push the limits of my bike or ability. Nonetheless, I'm very happy with the tires.

      Comments:

I am a diabetic, and I primarily use my bike to workout every night doing three laps around my neighborhood. So far I've gone through three tires, and this one was I am pleased with. It has good traction both on dry and wet pavement. Running over gravel, jumping over curbs, and speeding downhill. Overal no complaints.

        Comments:

As an older rider, I'm not likely to be doing performance/competitive trail/jump riding, so I chose the Continental Town & Country tire to replace my knobbies ('97 Specialized "Rock Hopper"). Very pleased in handling, ride and durability. Good on "terrain" like sand/dirt, and excellent on hard-surface. I have the Continental "Gator Skins" on my road bike and equally happy.

          Comments:

I bought these tires to supplement my Kenda Small Block Eight's on my Giant mountain bike. After finding myself doing a lot more road riding than trail riding, I decided to look into some different tire options to decrease rolling resistance on pavement. I didn't want to purchase new wheels, and I do tend to ride rough roads and jump off the occasional curb as well, so these wheels seemed to be a great fit. Upon putting them on, I immediately gained about 2 mph on my average speed! They are great on pavement, but also have just enough traction for light-off road riding and handle curbs and the occasional, un-avoidable pot hole with excellence!

          Comments:

I use this tire mostly on Bike paths, but I've also used it on long tours. It really is a comfortable, smooth ride. But, the traction to me seems a bit silly. I've crashed twice losing traction in turns on the front tire. I figure that maybe I hit the brake a bit too hard, and in one of the crashes the pavement was wet. But . . .I've never had this issue with any other tire. I've crashed twice in the first six months of ownership. I think, at certain angles, it's just a bit too slick.

I have an unsuspended mountain bike and the 1.9" offers adequate comfort. Smooth ride on paved paths and road riding. These tires are lighter and faster rolling on rode than knobbie tires. Good traction in turns. If you are looking for a good road tire for your mountain bike look no further!
